informationskompetenz

The University of Bern, in collaboration with the University of Lausanne, offers a part-time postgraduate course in archives, library and information science. The postgraduate course can be completed after two years with a Master of Advanced Studies in Archival, Library and Information Science (MAS ALIS) or, after attending the basic course, with a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Archival, Library and Information Science (CAS ALIS).

Degree:

  • Master of Advanced Studies in Archival, Library and Information Science
  • Certificate of Advanced Studies in Archival, Library and Information Science

It is an advantage if the necessary practice can be obtained during the postgraduate course in an "Information & Documentation" institution. During the course it is mandatory to complete an internship, with a rating of 2 ECTS. Graduates of the course will qualify for this study with a higher function in an "Information & Documentation" institution or company.

The study course is divided into one basic and two advanced stages. The basic level can be completed with a CAS.

The course is conducted every two years (beginning in even years). The training program is aimed at people with a university degree (Masters or equivalent title).

The University of Bern, as from 2012, offers a new training course with two supplementary modules on current topics which will run independently of the MAS/CAS course. The supplementary modules can be visited with a university degree and sufficient practical experience. Notably, in module 2 aspects of information literacy are discussed.
